In anticipation of Mother’s Day, I decided to treat my Mom to a fancy afternoon tea on our family weekend trip to Montreal.  For those of you that don’t know, afternoon tea isn't just about drinking tea.  It’s a light meal, usually of sandwiches and sweets or cakes, served with tea in the late afternoon.

With that in mind, I thought of the Ritz-Carlton, steps away from Rue Sainte Catherine.  After a some mother daughter power shopping, it was the perfect place to rest our tired feet and settle in on comfy couches :-) Not to mention, the food and service was impeccable and the staff anticipated our needs before we even thought about it.

For Torontonians who want to recreate my Mother’s Day experience, toast a special occasion or simply enjoy of good food in a pampered environment, the Ritz-Carlton Toronto on Wellington has its own delicious afternoon tea.  Offered at Deq, their restaurant is gorgeous with a patio view of the CN Tower. Since Mother’s Day is this weekend, you should make reservations!  The  Ritz-Carlton has afternoon tea Saturdays and Sunday’s from 2 to 4 pm.

Can’t get enough tea time?  The the Lobby Lounge at Shangri-La is wonderful, and they do a daily tea service from 2 to 5 pm.  Check out my my review on tea time at Lobby Lounge here.
