Sip and Shuck!

I recently had an opportunity to attend an oyster shucking and wine tasting event sponsored by Stoneleigh and hosted by the iYellow Wine Club at their wine cave. Yes, an underground CAVE!

iYellow is the brainchild of Angela Aiello.  The Club has over 10,000 members and has been described by Toronto Life as “The Coolest Place to learn about wine!”  What I really loved about iYellow was the fun, laid back atmosphere - and the fact that Club membership is free!.  I don’t know alot about wine and was under the misconception that wine education would be complicated and pretentious.

 Angela proved me wrong :-)

We sampled 4 of Stoneleigh’s New Zealand wine: Sauvignon Blanc, the Latitude Sauvignon Blanc, the Pinot Noir, and the Latitude Pinot Noir. My favourite was the Sauvignon Blanc because of the citrusy flavour. All of these wines are available at LCBO for $17.95, with the Latitude series priced at 21.95.

We were also treated to a lesson in oyster shucking from Oyster Boy.  I'm a sucker for oysters, and boy do they taste even better when you shuck them yourself!

Now that I’ve tried it, I’m hooked!  You can create your own Oyster Boy experience at home with this shucking lesson from Oyster Boy...

This was my first event with iYellow Wine Club and I had so much fun! The Club offers lots of social events like this one, so if you’re not already a member sign up and say hi if you see me at the event!
