SIP! Recap & Recipe

A few weeks ago, a group of lovely people gathered together for Chew Street’s first event. ‘SIP!’.  Guests got a crash course in holistic mixology; learning about the best artisanal spirits from Ontario and the Caribbean and the benefits of yummy and restorative ingredients, such as ginger, maple syrup, and kombucha.  I partnered with my friend and holistic nutritionist Andrea Sarjeant of Healthy Delicious to create delicious cocktails that were easier on your body.  The lovely Whitney Munro of Tipicular Fixins is a cocktail genius who helped me translate my drink ideas into actual recipes and played psuedo-therapist whenever I called her in a panic :-)


I’d like to thank everyone that attended, it was lovely to meet all of you and I can only hope you had as much fun as I did.  I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about this event, but I couldn't be more thrilled that it was a sold out success :-)   I’m so touched by the outpouring of support and encouragement for this blog and my events and love that so many of you have embraced Chew Street's mission of food philanthropy.

Recreate the 'SIP!' experience at home with my healthier version of a Moscow Mule, the Chew Street Pony


Chew Street Pony

1.5 oz vodka (I used Ontario made TAG Vodka, I also like Dillon's, Ciroc and Belvedere)

3 oz ginger kombucha (I love GT's Gingerade Kombucha, available at Whole Foods)

1 oz maple syrup or .5 oz for less sweet (I love Maddington's Organic Maple Syrup)

1/4 lime, juiced

Pour ingredients over ice.  Give it a good stir to mix the maple syrup.  Garnish with lime wedge, candied ginger or both.
