Spicebox Canadian Spiced Whisky offers whisky lovers and whisky novices a spirit that is a great match for the mixology boom we are currently enjoying in North America.

Based in Montreal, Spicebox is blended from Canadian whisky stocks which are aged from three to six years. Their original Spiced Rye Whisky is smooth, with notes of vanilla and nutmeg.

The Spicebox name and product ethos was inspired by prohibition-era Canadian rum-runners and bootleggers that hid their cargo in used wooden spice barrels.  They knew this was a great way to camouflage the contraband while infusing the whiskey with aromatics.

This whiskey is a great choice for the holiday season due to the sweetly rounded flavours, it moves away from being identifiably ‘whisky’ towards something more creamy with a vanilla caramel taste. I think it is a great stocking stuffer as well as party cocktail maker.

The Original ($27.95 LCBO#258954), along with two seasonal flavours, Pumpkin ($27.95, LCBO#353334) and Gingerbread ($15.95, LCBO#438846), are a beautiful amber colour and can be found across Canada .

This holiday season, try it straight up, on the rocks, or splashed into Granny’s eggnog.
