A couple things happened last week that made me want to put this quote up today. 1. Tracee Ellis Ross said this phrase during her inspiring remarks at the Glamour Women of the Year Summit. 2. I went on a date.
I'll talk about the date first. We were sitting at a bar in the midst of one of those almost perfect deep conversations about life, love and shared goals. He was kind and handsome and the evening was going well when he leaned in and asked, "So you've never been married and you don't have any kids. What happened? What went wrong?" I tried, as I have so often to explain that there is nothing wrong with women who choose to delay marriage or who otherwise do what they want to do with their lives on a schedule that serves them, as opposed to society's expectations. Coincidentally, my friend sent me the link to Tracee Ellis Ross' epic speech where she expressed everything I felt with much more charm, elegance and humour. So this morning I sent the video of Tracee's speech to my date and asked him to watch it. Let's see if he calls back 😊 To all of you trying to live life on your own terms, have an awesome, fabulous, wonderful week ❤️ #mondaymotivation #quoteoftheday #traceeellisross #glamourwomanoftheyear
